German for university studies – Studying in Germany

German for studying – Studying in Germany

If you want to study at a German-speaking university, a good knowledge of German is indispensable. Only then can you successfully attend the lectures and benefit from the seminars. Foreign applicants must prove their German language skills before starting their studies. Knowledge of German is not always a prerequisite for starting a course of study. In some courses, the language of instruction is English. Often, in postgraduate courses, the lectures are held in another language. In an international degree program, German is not required. For some degree programs, you do not need to have proof of German language skills if you only study for two semesters.
To be on the safe side, it is best to do a recognized German test. Among others, you will have the German as a foreign language test (TestDaF) and the German Language Examination for University Entrance (DSH) at your disposal. Both exams carry certain costs. You are welcome to test your German language skills online at our website.

Studying in Germany

The TestDaF

This test takes place in 90 countries around the world. So, you do not necessarily have to take it in Germany, but you can already complete it in your home country. Every year, there are six appointments in most countries. In China, there are only three. Our employees will be pleased to inform you about the exact dates, locations and details of the application.

The German language exam for university entrance (DSH)

You can only take this test in Germany. Many colleges offer it. Further information can be obtained from the International Office of your university.

No examination is necessary under the following conditions

– You have passed the Abitur at a German school
– You passed the new German Language Diploma (C2), the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung of the Goethe Institut or a comparable exam.
– You have successfully passed Level II of the German Language Diploma of the Standing Conference.
– You have passed the exam “telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule”

The optimal preparation for the exam

To be admitted to a university, you must pass the test at a medium level. With the TestDaF the TDN is 4, with DSH you must achieve at least DSH-2. The German as a foreign language test can only be passed if you are optimally prepared for it. For this reason, we offer in our online language courses various German language courses for preparation: private, group courses and TestDaF preparation courses. We teach you exam practice based on real exam tasks. Motivated teachers will give you tips and tricks on how to best prepare for the exam. However, the preparation only makes sense if you already have good language skills. If that is not the case, first visit one of our courses at a lower level.
For classification we offer you a free test. Then you know if you have a real chance to complete the course successfully.
